The relevant portion regarding the ban on plastics was set out in Para No.33 as follows:
33. This Government will lay special emphasis on protecting the environment. A massive drive will be launched to clean-up the villages and towns. Information, Education and Communication (IEC) campaigns will be launched for sensitising the public to eschew non-degradable plastics. This Government will impose ban on the use of plastic carry bags made of virgin plastics or recycled plastics of less than 60 microns thickness and 8x12 inches size. Recycling of plastics will be strictly regulated in accordance with the specification of Bureau of Indian Standards.
