Chennai - The Tamil Nadu (TN), opposition All India Anna DMK (ADMK) lead by former TN chief minister Ms. J Jeyalalitha, MDMK party lead by Vaiko Gobalsamy and DMDK party lead by its leader and a Tamil actor, Viyayakanth all supports the CPI's state wide fasting agitation on October 2 to urge the Centre to ensure the safety and security for Tamils in the island nation and strongly condemn the continuous attacks against Indian fishermen by Sri Lankan naval personnel.
CPI fast protest also will urge the center to intervene in ensuring a political resolution to the ethnic conflict in the island nation.
Former CM’s, Jayalaitha's supports to the Sri Lankan Tamils sufferings causing storm of supports to the Sri Lankan Tamils all over TN and uniting all political parties in TN. All parties are uniting to urge immediate intervention by the Center in supports of Sri Lankan Tamils to stop the brutal war against them and force Sri Lanka to find a just and fair solution the long suffering Tamils in Sri Lanka.
Suresh Premchandran, MP, Sri Lanka Tamil National Alliance speaking on extended hand of Jayalalithaa said, "Jayalalithaa's gesture is a good beginning. She has now understood the struggle. It will send right message to other parties and central government."
TN BJP party State unit president L Ganesan also demanded that the ruling DMK in Tamil Nadu seek the Centre's intervention in ensuring a political resolution to the ethnic conflict in the island nation.
State unit president L Ganesan told reporters that since the DMK was ruling the state and was a part of the Congress-led UPA at the Centre, it should take up the issue with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
He lauded various political parties in Tamil Nadu for standing united for the cause of Sri Lankan Tamils.
The CPI is observing a fast on the Lankan issue on October 2. Volunteers of the AIADMK, DMDK many other TN parties would be participating in the fast while the DMK is organizing a public meeting here on October 6 to express solidarity.
Thousands of people of Dr. Ramadas, PMK party wearing black uniform protested on September 30th in front of the Deputy High Commission office in Chennai in support of Sri Lankan Tamils and demanded the DMK Party leader, and the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu (TN) should come out of the silence and support the Sri Lankan Tamils and urge Indian government to intervene on behalf of Tamils in Sri Lanka.
